The <strong>Quartier des Spectacles Partnership<\/strong> and <strong>Quartier des spectacles international<\/strong> (QDSinternational) are co-hosting the Convening, which will feature numerous talks and networking activities. The event will be attended by <strong>80 speakers from 16 countries<\/strong> who will present some<strong> 40 talks and workshops<\/strong> on the theme of <em>The Value(s) of Cultural Districts<\/em>. An association for urban centres with a cultural or artistic focus, the GCDN invites managers to collaborate and share their knowledge related to the design, financing, construction and management of cultural districts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the last 20 years, the heart of downtown Montreal has been defined by the Quartier des Spectacles. Twelve months a year, festivals, special events, art installations and exhibitions take turns animating the heart of our cultural metropolis. This programming energizes the area and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, benefitting merchants. Cultural districts are powerful drivers of economic development, essential gathering places, and role models in making culture accessible. There will be a conference on the quartier des arts du cirque with Mr. Daniel Lamarre (Cirque du Soleil) and St\u00e9phane Lavoie (La TOHU), a discussion about structures and governance models of cultural districts, as well as a panel on cohabitation in the public space. The day ends at Jardins Gamelin to celebrate the opening of the 9th season. This day focused on bringing together Montreal\u2019s cultural ecosystem with Canadian and international players. The interactive map catalogues nearly 500 cultural districts.
